“Women of the Little Cities” Planning Begins
Nominations Solicited for Women to Be Featured in LCBD Day Program & Exhibit

Nominations are now being accepted for women from the past and present to be featured in the Council's thematic exhibit and programs on the “Women of the Little Cities” to be featured at Little Cities of Black Diamonds Day on Sunday, October 17, 2010 and the Appalachian Spring Festival to be held on May 9, 2011. Nomination forms are available on the organization's web site and can also be obtained by contacting the LCBD office at 740-394-3011. A panel of judges who live outside the region will review nominations, so information provided will be of great importance. At least six women will be selected for feature exhibits. All nominations who meet project criteria will be recognized in event programs. Nomination of public figures, as well as unsung heroes and role models are welcome. Women who spent significant time contributing to individuals and communities in the region are sought for recognition, rather than those who grew up here, and excelled elsewhere.
Persons interested in serving on the committee for this year's Little Cities of Black Diamonds Day and the Women of the Little Cities project should contact the Council Office at 740-394-3011 or attend an organizational meeting at 1PM on August 10 at the office in Shawnee.
