A youth
operated shop in downtown Shawnee is not only selling a variety
of Little Cities souvenirs and pulbications, it is also featuring
the work of local artisans and locally produced food. First established
last November as Little Cities Christmas, the shop transformed
into Little Cities Saturday in May of this year under the leadership
of Christa Myers. Meyers recruited four Miller Middle & High
School students to operate the store from 10AM-3PM each Saturday.
The students also meet one other time most weeks for training,
field trip experiences and store preparation. The project is
supported by Sunday Creek Associates, the non-profit community
development organization that sponsors the Little Cities of Black
Diamonds Council. For more information contact Myers at the shop
at 740-394-3080 or via e-mail at littlecitiessaturdays@hotmail.com
