Our 2011 membership drive kicks off with this issue of Black Diamond Press. As funds from foundations and government entities shrink in these difficult economic times, the contributions from our annual membership drive, both financial and volunteer, are essential to the continued operation of the Council.

Our annual budget has ranged between $20,000 to $25,000 over the past decade, with declining amounts during the past three years. We are proud to say that the majority of our budget comes from funds we raise ourselves by books and souvenir sales, annual memberships, and hosting events, tours and educational programs. The pattern will continue this year, as our only regular grant source, the Ohio Arts Council, faces dramatic cuts.
