Over the year Borowski has become a favorite at Little Cities events with ‘swing’ music that draws upon jazz, blues, and country & western influences. These participatory events provide great fun and exercise for dancers of all skills and ages. Living History Character, Peter Hayden by Ken Bowald

Ken Bowald a regular “Voices of the Little Cities” living history character portrays industrialist Peter Hayden founder of the company-owned town Haydenville. Hayden’s community became a catalog for the clay products at his Haydenville Mining and Manufacturing Company, featuring a variety of his products in construction of company housing, silo style houses, a company built church and company store. Bowald brings to life the benevolent owner’s prideful outlook on the often scorned company-town system, as well as historical facts about his multiple businesses and investments in the Hocking Canal and Columbus & Hocking Valley Railroad which served Haydenville and the Hocking Valley.

Bowald is the Assistant Dean of the College of Natural Resources at Hocking College and former professor of Historic Interpretation at the college. In addition to Peter Hayden, Bowald has portrayed miner John Holt for the Little Cities troupe and other living history characters for the Athens County Historical Society. He has appeared in numerous plays for the ABC Theater of Nelsonville and Athens.
